Quarantine life
Quarantine has been something everyone has dreaded, even when it just started as rumors. Quarantine means being inside all day with only the comfort of the things you have in your house, your backyard, or even the park...as long as there isn't too many people there. With news of COVID-19 being the first thing we see when we wake up, then death tolls, racism in the medical world, and how much the virus is spreading, there is no doubt that the world right now is upside down. The news, my parents, and even my friends are all filled with a certain bleakness-- a negativity. I don't know about you but...I'm getting tired of the negativity. Why don't we see how some people are staying positive during quarantine, and how the world is doing in the meantime?
How you doin' world?
Everyday the world gets busier and busier. With people packing the New York City subways, to people lining up to see the Mona Lisa, the world never gets time to rest from people; but now...with no people outside...no people taking the subways...the Mona Lisa won't see her millions of fans...how is the world being impacted?
1. CHINAChina is most definitely the busiest countries in the world. With the population being sky high, China experiences a lot of pollution from factories and cars. Luckily for the country, factories being shut down means clear skies and fresh air. Clear skies haven't been visible for a very long time, cities like Beijing and Shanghai are enjoy the blue skies.

2. ITALYBecause Italy has been on a strict lockdown for months, this means that in one of its busiest cities, Venice, there are no longer thousands of boats sailing in the canals. With their absence, locals have reported the waters of the canal clearing up after decades of its dark green hue, allowing fish and wildlife to return to the canals once again.
Zoos being shut down around the world means relief for the animals. Penguins from all around the world are being let free in the zoos in order for them to roam around. From zoos in Japan to California, the cute little penguins are able to wobble around the zoo halls and see a number of their furry friends.

How you doin' guys?
Although quarantine means being absent from seeing friends and family, it also means a lot of other ways to entretain yourself. Apart from school work, the day could get pretty boring. When you sit down in the dinner table and the first topic being Covid, sometimes being home can drain all the positivity. What are people doing in order to stay positive?
"Lately I've had a lot of time to catch up with my best friends from Ohio. It's really nice because we all finally have the time to orchestrate Face-times and Netflix parties. I've also come back to playing piano, I think that it is so satisfactory to work hard on a piece and hear it come to life. Another passion of mine that I've had the pleasure to explore more now that I have time to photography. I have an Instagram for it and post 2-3 times a day." Suhani Mahajan, 10th grade |
"I cook, I draw, I talk to my friends , I write letters, I dance like no one is watching because really no one is watching, I sing, I'm trying to learn a language, I keep myself busy basically and I always think that even if I'm in quarantine, I'd rather be in quarantine for not having Covid than being in quarantine for having Covid" Sakhi Shah, 10th grade |
