The Process Of Video Editing
|
Video editing is one of the numerous hobbies I entertain myself with, but it's not a simple, throw - random- things-together hobby. A lot of time and effort go into making edits. The process goes like this:
The first thing to do: Pick a song A song is the foundation of every edit. The song chosen has to represent something. An idea, a belief, or a moral. Of course, the idea being represented doesn’t always have to something particularly serious. The song has to fit with the edit unless the contrast between the edit for a purpose. All edits are art, and art has to have tone. All parts of an edit: The transitions, the music, the media being edited, etc. have to match a certain tone. For this edit, I have chosen “The Girl Next Door” by Tomppabeats. It's a cute, chill song, that I believe represents the feeling of first love. After picking a song, I chose a piece of media to edit. Most of the time I edit things I enjoy, like my favorite YouTubers, movies, shows, or sometimes myself. For this edit, I have chosen Bubble Gum, a short film made by Ella Fields, because the media matches the theme and song, and it’s my favorite short film. Now that I have my song and piece of media, I have to split the clips and add transitions. This is the hardest part of the editing because the transitions and splitting have to be perfect. If there is one mishap or mistake that happens with the transitions and/or splitting, the whole edit falls apart. Now that I have the music, media, and transitions, I add the finishing touch, which is a filter. Now a filter in completely optional, but I think it adds a nice look to the edit. And there! The edit is finally complete! |
